If I go into the hospice, will I die? People are often very frightened about going into the hospice because they think it is only for patients at the very end of their lives. People come in at many stages of their illness and more than half of our patients go home again. Many patients receive in- and out-patient care from the hospices over months or years alongside treatment for their underlying illness. We will talk with you when you come in about your wishes and goals for your treatment and care and will try and help you achieve these.Take a look at George's story, George has been living with cancer for years and for the last four it’s been with support from our team at Cornwall Hospice Care. Sam Pleasants faces the stark reality of life limiting illnesses every working day but she wouldn’t swap the role that she calls ‘a really great job’. Sam is the Unit Manager/Sister at our St Julia’s Hospice in Hayle where she’s worked for the last 13 years. Sam tells her story to help people understand the work of both of our adult hospices.
