Charlestown Regatta 2015 ran from Saturday 25th to Friday 31st July and was an action packed week, as Chair of the Regatta committee, Terry Butler explains;

“There was regatta day itself, a raft race, water polo, kids sports, the carnival, the Youth Kicks talent contest, the Last Night of the Proms and the Regatta Rocks concert. It was a great week, very tiring, but so worthwhile, especially when it comes to handing out cheques to local charities afterwards.

We heard about the financial struggle Cornwall Hospice Care is facing and decided we needed to do something, so here we are giving the charity £1,000. We all know what wonderful work is done here at Mount Edgcumbe Hospice given it’s so close to Charlestown so it’s good to know the money is going to help those who need it most.”

The donation was accepted by Angela Hurst, the Chair of the Cornwall Hospice Care Fundraising Group, and fellow group member and Trustee of the charity, Margaret Geake who said;

“We are so grateful to the regatta committee for thinking of us. This donation will really make a difference as we continue to provide specialist care to patients who are struggling with life limiting illnesses and to their families. I’d like to thank the committee and all those who took part in the regatta week activities.”

The 2016 Charlestown Regatta will run from Saturday 30th July to Friday 5th August.
