A team of seven will be taking on this summer’s hard core Rat Race from Gorran Haven to Porthpean Activity Centre for Cornwall Hospice Care.  Known as ‘Danielle’s Divas’ they’ll be raising money in memory of Danielle Billing who died at Mount Edgcumbe Hospice at the age of 29 last year.

Leading the team will be Danielle’s sister, Natasha (Tasha) Lewis who says taking on the run along the Cornish coast path is her way of saying thank you;

“There are so many special people at Mount Edgcumbe Hospice and they were all so amazing that I wanted to take on a challenge and raise money to say thank you.  I lived there for a week when my sister was really ill and nothing was too much trouble and I will never forget that.”

Tasha will be joined for the event by her husband, Justian and friends Emma Eden (Healthcare Assistant at Mount Edgcumbe Hospice), Julie Tinnian, Kirstie Nancarrow and Jo Holmes. They’ll run 11 miles along the coast on Saturday 15th August and everything they raise will be handed to Cornwall Hospice Care, as Tasha explains;

“We set ourselves a fundraising goal of £1,000 but we’ve reached that already so we are keen to keep getting more money in as everything’s a bonus from now on. Please be generous and visit our fundraising page at https://www.justgiving.com/DaniellesDivas/

Cheering the team on will be everyone at Cornwall Hospice Care, including Tamsin Thomas who says she is full of admiration for Danielle’s Divas;

“Running has never been my strong point, so to see the team training on such tricky terrain is amazing and I wish them the very best of luck for the challenge. We need to raise millions each year to fund the specialist care we offer people with life limiting illnesses so support from people like Tasha and her team is vital and we thank them all for doing this for us.”
