On Saturday 7th March, we opened our doors to a brand new retail venture in Bodmin. The new lifestyle shop is based at the site of the town’s former cinema and will offer clothes, home ware and furniture.

The shop puts Cornwall Hospice Care right at the heart of the main street of Bodmin where visitors will be able to help support the work of the charity through their shopping. Business Manager, Nina Kneil says the venture is an exciting new development;

“This new lifestyle shop is aimed at meeting the needs of the local community, with a mix of clothes, home ware, gifts and furniture. We’ve got plenty of space and a wonderful site right in the middle of the town centre. We now hope people will help us to continue providing the special care we offer at our two hospices, by coming in and spending a few pounds.”

“The people of Bodmin are very supportive of our work helping those with life limiting illnesses and their families. We’re the chosen charity of the local Sainsbury’s and have just received a superb donation from the local Lions Club. We feel very much a part of Bodmin and we can celebrate this now with a wonderful site here in the main part of town.”

“Our shops are vital to us, providing some of the funds required to help those who need specialist care and sanctuary. The very small amount of funding we get from the government pays for just 41 days of care at our two hospices, so we have to find the £7.5 million needed to continue that care for the other 324 days of the year. Together we can achieve this so please call in and see us.”

"The opening was kicked off perfectly with an evening in the beautiful new shop. There were smiles, laughs and compliments all round. All the volunteers for the original Bodmin shop were invited and all who came were delighted to see the stunning look and feel of the new premises. Joining them in celebrating were Trustees Mr & Mrs Geake, Mike Voyzey, Nina Kneil, Shop assistant Bex, St. Austell Manager Tracey and Paul Brinsley who gave a wonderful and encouraging speech. Everyone welcomed new Managers Liz and Renee to the CHC family. The positivity filled the room and everyone left feeling excited for the next day when the shop would open to the public.

 The sun was bright and streamed through the windows casting beautiful light over the shop. Before the doors opened, people were excitedly tapping on the window and asking for the time we would open the doors. And once they opening, the shop was soon full of customers! Everyone had great things to say and the shop was filled with people smiling and queuing to try and buy. We had several people ask us for volunteer application forms as they would love to work in such a friendly and fun environment. The day ended and we discovered we had taken a lot more than we expected which left all the staff leaving with warm hearts and excitement for what the future will hold for this gorgeous new Cornwall Hospice Care Lifestyle shop."

The shop will be open from Monday to Saturday each week, and from 9.30am to 5pm.
