Stars of the 2014 Hall for Cornwall pantomime Robin Hood donned their costumes to visit the Cornwall Hospice Care shop in Truro yesterday (Wednesday 17 December). Robin Hood (Steffan Lloyd-Evans) and Maid Marian (Abona Omonua) visited the store to pull out the winning tickets in the charity’s annual Christmas Draw.

First prize in the draw was £2,000, which was won by a Cornwall Hospice Care supporter who wishes to remain anonymous. The second ticket drawn out by the Panto stars secured a £500 prize for Terry and Brenda Moreland from Helston and the third place cheque for £250 was won by Doris Trethewey from Truro.  In drawing the 13 prizes (10 people won £25), Steffan Lloyd-Evans who plays Robin Hood, said;

“I’m delighted to be drawing the winning tickets with Abona, my Maid Marian, as I have personal experience of such a charity and know the great work they do and how important it is to families. Congratulations to all the winners and to Cornwall Hospice Care for such a successful draw,”

The 2014 Christmas Bumper Draw has raised a magnificent £35,367, which as Cornwall Hospice Care Lottery Manager Sarah Vincent explains, is vital to the charity;

“We have to raise £7.5 million of the £8.4 million needed to run our two hospices annually, so a sum like this is extremely valuable. It means we can continue to provide our specialist care to patients and their families in Cornwall free of charge.  I’d like to send a huge thank you to everyone who purchased tickets for the draw to show their support, we really do appreciate the generosity.  So Happy Christmas to everyone and I wish a peaceful New Year to one and all.”

Cornwall Hospice Care run a weekly lottery and details on how to play can be found by visiting the charity’s website at
