This is your opportunity to register for a 4.5 mile Family Fun Walk to take place at 3:00pm on Sunday 28th August, starting and finishing at St Austell Rugby Club. Registration is free but all participants are urged to gain as much sponsorship as possible to support the vital work of Cornwall Hospice Care.

Organiser of the walk, Trevor Price, said “My wife Janet lost her battle with Cancer in January but we were privileged to receive the excellent and compassionate care provided by Mount Edgcumbe Hospice for the last few weeks of her life. The staff there truly make a difference, caring for those with life limiting illnesses and family members during such traumatic times. Their work cannot be allowed to suffer from lack of funds”.

For further information, to register and receive a sponsorship form, please contact Trevor Price on 07584 659615 or email

Trevor is taking part in the Hospice’ 2017 trekking challenge to Everest Base Camp in March 2017 and this walk is one of a series of fund raising events organised in the lead up to this challenge. On Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th August, Trevor is leading a small group taking on the challenge of walking from St Julia’s Hospice in Hayle to Mount Edgcumbe Hospice in St Austell. The end of this challenge will co-incide with the start of the family fun walk.

Cornwall Hospice Care provides Specialist Palliative Care – the term used for the alleviation of pain and management of symptoms – for people in the county who have life limiting illnesses and gives support to their loved ones. The charity provides 28 in-patient beds, day treatments and therapies at its two hospices in St Austell and Hayle.

It costs around £8.4M annually to run these services, over £7M of this has to be raised through voluntary donations and so every penny really does count.
