We are so excited to welcome you back to Run Falmouth Half Marathon 2022! Now in its 10th year, Run Falmouth is the 4th event in Cornwall Grand Prix Race series sponsored by Cornwall Glass. The race is arranged and managed by us and in collaboration with the Falmouth Road Runners.
The 13.1 mile route starts in the lee of Pendennis Castle following the coast past the beautiful beaches of Gyllyngvase and Swanpool and glimpsing Maenporth Beach as the route rises to give fabulous views over the bay towards Pendennis Castle. The route follows undulating Cornish country lanes featuring open fields and wooded scenes, passing the beautiful Falmouth Golf Course twice. The run is well supported along the whole route as locals from Falmouth and the surrounding picturesque villages come out to cheer the runners on.
There are all the usual features of a Grand Prix event; water stations, bag drop, bananas, prizes, and once again the Run Falmouth Half Marathon is being chip timed.
The race is limited to 800 places only. Online registration will close at midday on Monday 7th March 2022, or when the race is at capacity. Registrations will be accepted on the day if places are still available. This event has sold out in previous years, so we are encouraging people to register in advance to avoid disappointment.
We are moving Race HQ for 2022. This will give you, the runner & your supporters, a better experience while allowing us to deliver a smooth and uninterrupted event experience. The Start/Finish area will now be in one location – and we are delighted to announce we will be working with Better Leisure and the Ships and Castles Leisure Centre to bring the start/finish area to one location.
Of course, this means we have had to make some minor adjustments to the route, it remains largely unchanged but the new Start Line is at the Ships and Castles car park entrance. Runners will head towards the Falmouth Hotel as normal, and follow the usual route, until they get back to the Falmouth Hotel – here they will need to keep going (sorry!) and head back to Pendennis Point, completing the loop of the peninsula, the new finish line will be outside of the Ship & Castles complex where runners will be presented with their medal.
A good level of fitness and training is required to complete Run Falmouth Half Marathon but whatever your ability you can achieve your goal and complete the half marathon!
For all runners, sponsorship is optional. However, you are encouraged to raise sponsorship, no matter how much or how little, to help keep our beds open. If you are unable to raise sponsorship at this time, please consider making a donation when you register.
Every £20 you raise will fund one hour of nursing care in our hospices. Run Falmouth in 2020 was our last big event before the lockdown – your efforts helped us keep open our beds at St Julia’s and Mount Edgcumbe Hospices, beds that were and remain so needed. In 2021 the support of our community sustained your local adult hospices. In 2022 let’s see if we can help our hospices thrive even further! The registration fee covers the costs of this event, but by raising sponsorship you will enable us to care for more terminally ill people in Cornwall.
