When the London Marathon was postponed this year, we thought, we’ll have our own Marathon then, but around lockdown and at our own pace. The huge success of Your Marathon Your Pace and positive feedback has spurred us on to new challenges. So now the Tour of Britain has been cancelled, we’re going to have our own …..”Tour De Cornwall”. The first stage of the Tour of Britain would’ve seen cyclists complete a route of a little over 100 miles between Penzance and Bodmin.
So if you fancy getting “on yer bike” we’re throwing down the gauntlet of 100 miles of cycling, at your pace to be completed during June. So drag that rusting bike out of the garage and give it some love. We’re offering another spanking medal and certificate on completion and lots of encouragement and laughs in our Strava Team.
You can do this on your own or you can enter as a family. You can cycle the actual Tour of Britain first stage or round and round the duck pond, you can even do it on your exercise bike. Do it anywhere, anytime. The idea being to get us all motivated to get out and get moving and of course raising some critical funds for the Hospices.
Entry fees are £10 per adult £5 per child and there’s a spot of Merch on offer too! Grab yourself a Team CHC Cycling Jersey, Running Vest or Supporter T-shirt to show the world you’re supporting your local Hospice. Purchase here.
Now the eagle eyed amongst you will have spotted that you have run a marathon followed by a 100 mile cycle and it hasn’t passed us by, that if we then added a 2.4 mile swim we have ourselves an Ironman Triathlon. To make this inclusive along with the other two challenges we won’t insist on a swim, you can swim it, surf it or paddle it. You will have all of July to complete 2.4 miles of water stuff wherever you can and at your pace. We will, of course be offering another fabulous medal for this too but if you have completed all three challenges we will be awarding you our exclusive Team CHC Lockdown Triathlon Medal and that will definitely be one to show the grandchildren.
Registration for the swim will open sometime in June.
Whilst this is all great fun, It would be amazing if you could find a few friends to support you, every penny counts to fund the care we provide at Mount Edgcumbe and St Julia’s Hospice and you will have helped make a huge difference in these tough times. So please remember to set up a JustGiving page when you register, a modest of goal is very achievable and feels amazing when you beat it, knowing its going to fund those last treasured moments.
All you need to do is sign up, download the free Strava App, join our Team CHC Strava Club and share your stories, photos and achievements and we’ll shout them out on our media channels.
