The members of the Executive Team are responsible for the day-to-day running of the charity and its associated trading companies. They report on a regular basis to the Board of Trustees.

Paul Brinsley, LL.B, MIoD, FRSA, Chief Executive

I have overall executive responsibility for the organisation, leading the executive management team and reporting to the Board of Trustees through the Chairman. I am the responsible individual for the Care Quality Commission and advise the Board on strategic and governance matters. I joined the Charity in 2005, helping to steer the merger that established Cornwall Hospice Care. I have held CEO roles in other charities following an early career in member services for the AA. A director of the Cornwall SITA Trust, I am married with three children and live in Bodmin.

Dr Deborah Stevens, Medical Director

As Medical Director I take ultimate clinical responsibility for the patients in our care. I was originally appointed to St Julia's Hospice in 1993, prior to the merger with Mount Edgcumbe Hospice. My working time is divided into several spheres of activity. I have day to day consultant responsibility for the patients in St Julia's Hospice. I also perform domiciliary visits to patients in the community and provide outpatient reviews. I undertake regular joint pain clinics, oncology clinics and ward rounds in the Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust. I believe my responsibility is to ensure that Cornwall Hospice Care continues to provide the highest level of specialist palliative care. I sit on the clinical board of Hospice UK at a national level and am currently the chair of the Peninsula Network Specialist Palliative Care Group and am able to utilise these opportunities to benefit Cornwall Hospice Care. I am married to a full-time GP and when not at work we both spend our time supporting three very active children, a menagerie of rescued animals and an old wooden boat.

Dawn Tame-Battell, Director of Patient Services

I have overall executive responsibility for the delivery and quality of the service delivered by Cornwall Hospice Care. This includes the clinical, support and volunteer services needed to ensure the patients and their loved ones are looked after with care and compassion by experts in safe well maintained premises. I joined the charity in September 2015, having worked most of my life in the NHS in nursing and management roles. I left the NHS in 2006 to work for  Marie Curie and for four year was the Associate Director of Patient Services responsible for the national community nursing service and their network of hospices across the UK. I am not Cornish but having lived with my husband  in North Cornwall since 1998 consider this my home and the post here was an opportunity for me to give something back to the people of  Cornwall, a county I love.

Graham Clarke, Finance Director

I have overall executive responsibility for all financial and IT matters for the charity, and report to the Board of Trustees through the Finance Committee. I joined the Cornwall Hospice Care team in September 2016. Prior to that I spent five years at the Financial Reporting Council in London as Finance Director. In my earlier career I worked for Group 4 Security, Kraft Foods and Xansa plc in various finance roles. I was CFO of GS1 UK between 2004 and 2011. I am a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and have also been a non–executive Director of Magna Housing Association in Dorchester since February 2016. I am married with two grown up boys and have recently relocated to Cornwall to experience the fabulous quality of life on offer here.
