Application information

We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds. Most roles are open to anyone aged 16 or over, and hospice-based roles are open to anyone aged 18 or over.

We follow up references on all our volunteers. References should ideally be from people who know you in a professional capacity e.g. from somewhere you have worked, volunteered or studied. Referees should have known you for at least two years, and must not be related to you.

If you would like to work directly with patients and families, we will ask you to complete a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) form. Depending on individual circumstances, a health problem or a criminal record does not necessarily exclude you from volunteering.

Training and support

As a volunteer you will attend an induction and have the opportunity to shadow a more experienced volunteer or do relevant training when you start. You will also have a line manager who will give you support and advice.

We reimburse out of pocket expenses including travel costs.
