Be frugal with your fuel. An update from our Executive Team on Tuesday 1st March 2022.

The old saying ‘it never rains but it pours’ seems very apt right now. Covid is still a worry despite the relaxation of government rules, the reports from Ukraine are extremely disturbing and now there appears to be a fuel shortage here.

As Paul said in the recent edition of All Together, with our patients being one of the most vulnerable groups in our community the current Covid measures will be remaining in place in the immediate future. We’ll carry on as we are to ensure their safely and that of all of you, our staff and volunteers. We’ll also continue to review the situation, liaising with our colleagues at Hospice UK and in the NHS as we hear more from the government.

The fuel shortage has been triggered by the effect on supply chains of the recent storms and we understand deliveries should be back to normal by the end of the week. Until then we ask that you be as careful as you can to conserve your diesel or petrol, prioritising carefully the journeys you make. If you need to use a Pool car, ask yourself if the journey is absolutely necessary or time critical. If you run out of fuel and need to travel in to work, please liaise with your Line Manager.

We keep saying thank you and we really can’t say it enough. These are tough times but we are resilient and working together we can get through all this.

Thank you!

Paul, Gina, Graham and Verity
