The St Austell Fundraising Group for Cornish charity Cornwall Hospice Care want to thank everyone that supported their various fundraising events throughout 2017, including those that attended their very successful Christmas Fayre that raised over £4,000!
The end of 2017 saw three dedicated group members step down from their roles on the committee -twins Jean Metherell and Joan Chapman who have given almost 60 years between them and Ruth Hocking who has served for an amazing 35 years.
The volunteer group dedicate its time year after year arranging an array of events from quiz nights to ladies’ lunches to raise vital money for the charity.
Group member Faith Geake said “We should like to thank every single person who attended our events in 2017. Every cream tea and raffle ticket sold has helped us raise money to help make a difference. We hope to see you all again in 2018!” It costs over £5 million to provide the specialist care that Cornwall Hospice Care offers to its patients and their loved ones.
Their first events for 2018 are a lunch at Cloisters restaurant on Thursday 1st February, a wine and cheese evening at Lanjeth Village Hall on Saturday 3rd March and their annual quiz night returns to Charlestown Church Hall on Thursday 19th April. You can find information on these events as they become available at www.cornwallhospicecare.co.uk.
Angela Flamank, Fundraising Groups Co-ordinator for Cornwall Hospice Care had this to say “We have 14 amazing Fundraising Support Groups across Cornwall, they give their time freely to support Cornwall Hospice Care. They organise and manage successful events in their respective areas. These wonderful and indispensable volunteers often raise in excess of £100,000 per year and we simply could not be without them.”
