‘What Matters?’ is a new publication for those approaching or planning for end of life in Cornwall. It’s a joint venture that’s been created by the Cornwall Hospice Care Community Services team with the support of Community Connect.

The newsletter is aimed at patients, service users and the general public as well as other health and social care professionals. Lollie Brewer, Community Engagement Nurse for Cornwall Hospice Care, explains; “We created this following our very successful seminars where we established that it’s our aim to be at the forefront of important endof-life conversations, as well as providing supporting information from across the country. We’ve invited colleagues and contacts from a range of organisations and charities to submit relevant articles and information to help the reader navigate to support that’s right for them. We aim to update the newsletter twice a year, adding new services, developments and information that the reader may find of interest.”


The newsletter will be emailed to those who’re already involved in providing end-of-life services and they’ll be encouraged to share the publication with their clients and any professional contacts. The newsletter is in PDF format and although it can be printed it also contains hyperlinks and scans for those using it in its digital form. “We’re really excited to be launching this newsletter,” explains Lollie. “The more information we can share the better the service is for those who’re facing end-of-life or who are caring for someone who’s terminally ill.”

The Cornwall Hospice Care Community Services team will be looking for submissions in the autumn for the January 2022 issue. If people offer a service or have a story that others would find useful, please send the information to communityservices@cornwallhospice.co.uk
