Calling all potential Santas. How do you fancy dressing up in a red suit and running round a town near you in support of a great Cornish charity? Cornwall Hospice Care has announced the 2018 details of their annual Santa Series and there’s events to suit the whole family. This Christmas there’ll be Santa Runs in Helston, Falmouth, Truro and Padstow and a Santa cycle that starts in Wadebridge.
Christmas just wouldn’t be Christmas without Cornwall Hospice Care’s long established Santa Series that attracts more than a thousand Santas every year who run, walk and cycle in their jolly red suits. Oli Hoare is the charity’s Head of Fundraising; “We love this series and we love the many Santas who support it. Last year they collectively raised a £20,000 contribution to the cost of the care we provide! This year our title sponsor is the well-known Cornish company Ann’s Cottage Surf Shops https://www.annscottage.com/
who like us, think the Santa Series is a brilliant way of starting the Christmas festivities.”
The first Cornwall Hospice Care Santas will appear in Wadebridge on Saturday 8th December for the 8K Santa Cycle down the Camel Trail. That event will be followed on the same day by the first of the charity’s Santa Runs, which will be a 2K route around Padstow as part of the town’s Christmas market.
On Sunday 9th December it’s the City of Truro that will play host to a sea of Santas as they dash round a 3K course that takes them past notable landmarks such as the beautiful Cathedral.
Falmouth town will host eager Santas on Saturday 15th December when families can choose from a 1.5K course or a 5K route. On Sunday 16th December the assembled Santas will be in Helston careering round 1.5K and 3K courses.

Oli Hoare says the series is a great excuse to have a sleigh full of fun while making a difference to a 24/7 Cornish healthcare charity; “Fundraising is all about having fun, it’s about dressing up and laughing a lot, but there’s also the feel good factor that comes with taking part for a cause like ours. It costs over £5.15 million a year to provide the specialist care we offer our in and out patients. Only 19% of this is funded through a contribution from Cornwall’s NHS Commissioners. The rest is raised by folk like those who take part in our Santa Series and we can’t thank them enough. Do you want to get involved?
