One of Cornwall’s favourite Male Choirs will be performing in Lostwithiel next month for Cornish charity Cornwall Hospice Care. Mevagissey Male Choir will be the star attraction at a concert in St Bartholomew’s Church on Saturday 9th June.
Whether your taste is ‘60s classics, Puccini or Freddie Mercury, Mevagissey Male Choir’s repertoire has something for everyone. Always popular, the choir is well known throughout Cornwall and beyond and has appeared at the massed Cornish choir events at the Royal Albert Hall in London. “We are delighted to have the opportunity to support Cornwall Hospice Care, who do such wonderful work within our community,” says Nick Nicholls, Chairman of Mevagissey Male Choir.
The concert will be compered by Tamsin Thomas from Cornwall Hospice Care who says it’s always an honour to work with the choir; “I particularly love the Mevagissey Male Choir because some of the members are long-standing friends of mine and one was my chemistry teacher at Fowey School many years ago. They make such a wonderful sound and it’s clear they love their singing. They’ve got a great sense of humour too.”
“I’m particularly delighted to be joining them for this concert, which is raising funds for our charity. I’m in the privileged position of working for a charity I love and that supported my family when my late Mum was very ill. I’m based at Mount Edgcumbe Hospice in St Austell and every day I see the inspirational people who provide specialist care for our terminally ill in and out patients and their families. They are able to do this thanks to events like this raising money to help us fund the care.”
The concert at Lostwithiel is on Saturday 9th June at 7.30pm at St. Bartholomew’s Church. There’s free parking by the river just down the road from the church and in the car park by the Lostwithiel Community Centre and Fire Station. Tickets are just £6 each and available on the door
