Elliott, Stuart Beaumont’s son and Darren, Stuart Beaumont’s Brother in Law took on the London to Paris cycle in July 2017. They cycled the gruelling 300 miles to raise money for Cornwall Hospice Care in memory of Stuart who was cared for at the Cornish charity’s Mount Edgcumbe Hospice in St Austell.

They trained for months in preparation for the challenge and their fundraising efforts raised an incredible £3,000! This amount was then increased to £5,000 by a generous £2,000 contribution from high street retailer TK Maxx.

Stuart’s sister Bev works for TK Maxx so approached them with the story and they kindly donated. Bev had this to say as to why Elliot and Darren took on this challenge. “My family are grateful to Cornwall Hospice Care for their kindness and care of Stuart. Elliott and Darren wanted to do something for them, I think it’s just a need to say thank you with more than just words. They achieved their goal and the aches and pains were soon forgotten but what the hospice did for Stuart never will be.”

Cornwall Hospice Care Community Fundraiser Jane Appleton thanked them both for their efforts saying “We cannot provide our specialist care to patients and their loved ones without the people who kindly fundraise for us. I would like to say a huge thank you and congratulations to Elliott and Darren from everyone at Cornwall Hospice Care.
