Fantastic fundraiser Sally Pickles from the Bowgie Inn at Crantock has surpassed the £50,000 charity target she set herself 9 years ago. After treks and ale festivals, sponsorships and collections, she’s raised a huge £51,135 for Cornish healthcare charity Cornwall Hospice Care.
Sally says; “I can’t believe we’ve hit the £50K target, but we now have to continue until we reach the next milestone! We started working with Cornwall Hospice Care in 2012. We’ve had a lot of fun whilst fundraising and taken part in some awesome personal challenges. We’ve seen the invaluable service that the Hospices offer and we feel it’s important to keep the charity at the forefront of people’s minds because we never know when or how it might come into our lives.”
The extraordinary total was celebrated after Sally raised funds through Cask Ale Week, donating £885.25. As recent winners in the Great British Pub Awards, the Bowgie Inn also gifted the £1,000 charity grant from Coca-Cola to Cornwall Hospice Care.
``We appreciate her efforts now more than ever.``
Oli Hoare is the charity’s Head of Fundraising; “What a star Sally is and we appreciate her efforts now more than ever as we struggle through the devastating effects of the pandemic. It’s almost impossible to hold events at the moment and yet Sally still continues to raise money for us. This amazing total is down to her sheer enthusiasm and dedication to our Cornish charity and we’re incredibly grateful. We’d also like to say a huge thank you to all the staff and customers at the Bowgie Inn who continue to support Sally’s fundraising activities in aid of Cornwall Hospice Care. They’d better stand by now Sally has reset her target!”
