Three teenagers who volunteer at Cornwall Hospice Care’s Penzance charity shop have been recognised for their outstanding support. Faye Lambert, Dahlia Mobrouk and Katie Hill who all attend Mounts Bay Academy, have been presented with certificates to mark 25 and 50 hours of voluntary work at the store in Market Place.
All three were presented with their Certificates of Achievement at the store by the charity’s Director of HR Verity Hill and under the watchful eye of the Store Manager, Pete Norman who says; “Young volunteers are so enthusiastic and bring a real buzz to the shop. They take on all sorts of jobs and the customers really enjoy meeting them.”

14-year-old Faye Lambert helps out as part of the Duke of Edinburgh scheme. “I come in for a few hours each week and help with tidying up and general chores. I like the variety of jobs and it’s really fun. I think all teenagers should give it a go as it’s very rewarding.”
14-year-old Katie Hill is also volunteering as part of the Duke of Edinburgh scheme and says she enjoys doing a bit of everything; “I particularly like sorting the bric-a-brac but I’m happy to do all sorts of jobs round the shop. I do three hours a week and more in the school holidays. I’d say to other young people who’re thinking about volunteering, do it, it’s fun!”
Dahlia Mobrouk who’s also 14, chose to volunteer with Cornwall Hospice Care as her Mum also volunteers in the charity’s Penzance shop. “It sounded like it’s fun to be here so I offered to help and now I come in for a few hours every Saturday and do jobs all around the shop. I like helping people and working alongside the others who’re here. I’ve built new relationships and find it very rewarding. It’s nice to help others.”
Dahlia was presented with a Certificate of Achievement for giving 50 hours of help and Faye and Katie received certificates to mark 25 hours of volunteering. All three continue to give the gift of time at the Penzance shop.
