Christmas is a special time of year when thoughts turn to spending time with friends and family. It can also be a time for remembering loved ones who are no longer here. Light up a Life, organised by Cornwall Hospice Care, offers people the chance to enter the names of loved ones in the Books of Remembrance and to attend a special celebration service.
This year introduces 2 brand new services in Wadebridge and Newquay alongside our familiar services. Starting at Truro Cathedral on Friday 1st December; St Austell at Holy Trinity Church on Sunday 3rd December; Launceston at St Mary’s Church on Tuesday 5th December; Wadebridge at Egloshayle Church on Wednesday 6th December; Penzance at Chapel Street Methodist Church on Thursday 7th December; Hayle at St Elwyn’s Church on Saturday 9th December and Newquay on Sunday 10th December at the Bowgie Inn. The Newquay service is unique as it has a non-religious format.
The celebration services will include carols, readings and prayers. The Books of Remembrance featuring your dedication will be available to view. The Books are also posted on Cornwall Hospice Care’s website.
Clare Bray, Tribute Fundraiser from Cornwall Hospice Care says, “Light up a Life is a much loved hospice campaign which gives people the opportunity to remember loved ones at this special time of year. It is completely up to you who you choose to remember, whether it’s a friend, family member or work colleague. They don’t have to have been cared for by one of our hospices in order for you to make a dedication.”
