A special message to our staff and volunteers from the Cornwall Hospice Care Executive Team;

All our staff and volunteers are at the heart of our charity, supporting everything we do and we’d like to thank them all. Their contribution to our work is invaluable and we make a commitment to stay in touch with everyone whether they are at work or not, through the coming weeks and months. People are already working flexibly, covering other areas and generally keeping our whole charity functioning.

In these challenging times we, like many other charities, find ourselves in unchartered territory, but thanks to our dedicated clinical staff and our very committed ward volunteers we are able to keep our hospices open and to admit patients. We are grateful to everyone for pulling together, but acknowledge that for some the Coronavirus is a worrying prospect, particularly to many of our volunteers.

Thanks go to our hard working and dedicated retail staff and volunteers. We have been successful in keeping our shops open and trading thus far, generating much needed income.

Our fundraising and lottery staff and volunteers are rising to the challenge of an uncertain event calendar and we are immensely proud of their ‘can do’ attitude to keep fundraising and their willingness to support our charity wherever they are needed most.
We are sending out daily emails following the previous afternoon’s Government Cobra meeting. Volunteers should liaise with their staff contacts/managers to ensure they receive information if they are self-isolated.

We’d also like to say a heartfelt thank you to the people of Cornwall without whom we couldn’t provide sanctuary and care for families facing terminal illnesses. These families still need our support despite the Coronavirus and we are there for our patients because of the generosity of our supporters.
