‘The hospice was a safety net for me at the lowest point in my life’
Keith and Pat were a devoted couple who, in Keith’s words, had their lives wrecked by cancer.
Pat was taken poorly while visiting family in Italy in February 2017, and on the 28th of April she died.
During her illness, Pat spent three days at St Julia’s Hospice and then her final 13 days at Mount Edgcumbe Hospice.
Keith says, “What amazed me was how much it takes to provide the care she received, from the nurses and doctors on the front line to the housekeepers, chefs and volunteers, and the fundraising and retail departments who have to bring in the money to fund the care.”
Keith is now determined to help and has is now a devoted much of his spare time to keeping Pats legacy alive by helping fundraise for Cornwall Hospice Care.
By doing so, Keith is helping to secure the care his family needed in those difficult times, for those who need it now and in the future.
