My name is Dominique Roberts and I joined the Board of Trustees for Cornwall Hospice Care in June 2022.

I completed my Registered Nurse training at Treliske Hospital many years ago and worked in the hospital environment in various departments until I moved into community nursing when I was appointed as the Macmillan Nurse for the Truro and Perranporth area of Cornwall. This was a role I cherished as it gave me the opportunity to support patients and their families when end of life care was needed, working alongside GP’s, community nurses and the Hospices.

When my children came along it was not a role I could sustain, so I then worked as a Practice Nurse for 25 years in a local GP Practice developing other skills. I missed ‘hands on’ nursing however so I joined the Nurse Bank at St Julia’s Hospice and worked there, when possible, for 10 years.

Cornwall is so fortunate to have the two adult Hospices to provide us with dedicated care and compassion in our time of need and that is very much thanks to the fundraising efforts of many people. I feel honoured to be part of that team.
