Cornwall Hospice Care BD BodyGuard T Syringe Pump Training
This course is designed to provide practical set up experience for Registered Nurses using BD BodyGuard T syringe pumps for subcutaneous use on adults. The training is suitable for first time users and staff requiring an annual update, and counts as 3 hours towards Continuing Professional Development required by the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
The training will include:-
Theory: Clinical governance, duties and responsibilities, indications for use, preparation, record keeping and troubleshooting
Practical: Simulation and assessment in the first time set up of syringe pump/change of prescription and replacement syringes
Pre-course reading: Local Policy & Procedure for the use of BD BodyGuard Syringe Pump.
To enable the user to be:
– Competent and confident in the use of the BD BodyGuard T Syringe Pump
– Demonstrate an understanding of the functions and limitations of the device
– Recognise and interpret alerts, alarms and troubleshooting
– Explain the rationale and clinical decision making for use of the device
A certificate will be awarded on successful completion of the simulated practical assessment and accurate completion of the Learning Checklist.
