Cornwall Hospice Care Syringe Driver Training
This course is designed to provide practical set up experience for Registered Nurses using T34 2nd Edition syringe drivers for subcutaneous use on adults. The training is suitable for first time users and staff requiring an annual update, and counts as 3 hours towards Continuing Professional Development required by the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
The training will include:-
Theory: Clinical governance, duties and responsibilities, indications for use, preparation, record keeping and troubleshooting
Practical: Simulation and assessment in the first time set up of syringe driver/change of prescription and replacement syringes
To enable the user to be:
– Competent and confident in the use of the T34 2nd Edition Syringe Driver
– Demonstrate an understanding of the functions and limitations of the device
– Recognise and interpret alerts, alarms and troubleshooting
– Explain the rationale and clinical decision making for use of the device
A certificate will be awarded on successful completion of the simulated practical assessment and accurate completion of the Learning Checklist.
