About our Open Gardens scheme

Since the inception of our Open Gardens scheme 14 years ago, kind garden owners opened their garden gates in support of Cornwall Hospice care and have helped raise over £112k, funding the vital care at our two Cornish hospices in Hayle and St Austell.

Just some of the delights on offer this year include; riverside settings, woodland gardens, sculptures, orchards and a variety of interesting and unusual shrubbery, plants and trees.

Most of the owners are also offering visitors the chance to have relaxing refreshments in these real treats of gardens too, so don’t miss out on visiting these spectacular, often normally private, gardens.

We’re always looking for gardens to be a part of our scheme both this year and in the future – find out more below.

How you can get involved in Open Gardens

Open your garden for us

It doesn’t matter if your garden is big or small, seaside or countryside, public or private – if you have a passion for gardening and are proud of what you’ve created, we’d love to hear from you!

We can help you tailor your Open Garden event to suit you.  If you’re able to open to the public, we can support you all the way either on specific days or by appointment.  If you prefer to keep things low-key, why not hold a garden party to show off your hard work and invite friends and family to join you?  Contact our Community Fundraiser Kelly for a chat.

Visit an Open Garden

Scroll down the page to see all the Open Garden events happening soon.  We’re sure you’ll find something to pique your interest and suit you.  On each garden event you’ll find information about location, parking, facilities, accessibility and more about what delights you’ll find at each garden.

So gather up your friends and family and plan for a great day out – most of our gardens offer refreshments and some encourage you to bring a picnic!  Children are usually at a reduced price or free, so bring the little ones to explore and enjoy nature.

Volunteer at an Open Garden

Could you give a few hours of your time to help us out at one of our Open Gardens? If you like meeting new people and chatting, are a dab hand at making a good cuppa or love being organised, this could be the ideal volunteering role for you.

You could be welcoming guests, helping with parking, setting up, serving refreshments or selling plants. If you’d like to find out more about this seasonal volunteering role click the button below.

You wouldn’t have to make a regular commitment (although if you’d like to get involved in more than one event we’d love you to) – but if you’ve a few hours to spare every now and again between April and September, you could help make our events a great success.

Click the button below to find out more, or give our Volunteer Services team a call on 01726 65711.
