How our Saint’s Way Trek works

Saint’s Way Trek Day 1

Your two day adventure starts on Saturday morning at Padstow Church, where you will embark upon the first leg of your journey. As you leave Padstow you will be treated to spectacular views back across the famous harbour town, before making your way towards St. Breock and the ancient monolithic landmark on the downs.

Saints Way Trek Overnight Stop

The first day of trekking ends at the 16 mile mark, where we will set up camp at Mena Farm Campsite with it’s idyllic wild meadows and take time to unwind around the fire pit.

Saint’s Way Trek Day 2

Sunday morning takes you to the windswept heights of Helman Tor, where you can view the north and south coasts of our beautiful county. As you head down towards Golant, the banks of the river Fowey will lead you to the finish of the iconic Saint’s Way at Readymoney Cove in Fowey, where a medal will be waiting for you!

We’ll support you all the way

Saint’s Way Trek Itinerary

The Saint’s Way Trek is a fully supported 2 day walk  across the iconic Saint’s Way – this means we’re there with you every step of the way.  You’ll start by meeting us at our Cornwall Hospice Care furniture store in St. Austell to park your car for the Saint’s Way Trek weekend and catch our shuttle bus to the start line. You’ll leave your overnight bags and tents with us and they will be waiting for you at the campsite on Saturday afternoon, so you can focus on the walk and enjoying yourself.

Breakfast and packed lunch on Sunday are provided.

Mena Farm have a range of catering vans that come and visit them throughout the summer (did someone say cocktails?!) – not to mention having Lanivet nearby with the Welcome Stranger fish & chip shop and Lanivet Inn pub providing delicious takeaway food – so you have all the means to purchase your evening meal on Saturday night, you’ll have earned a treat!

Can you do it?

Of course you can! 28 miles may sound like a lot, but split over two days with a relaxing night in Mena Farm’s wild meadows in between, you’ll be enjoying an ice cream in Readymoney Cove in Fowey before you know it!

What about the Fundraising?

Part of our Saint’s Way Trek does involve an element of fundraising.  This event is organised by Cornwall Hospice Care, to help fund the care we provide at our two Cornish hospices in Hayle and St Austell, as well as work in local communities providing support and comfort to those dealing with terminal illnesses, so your fundraising really will make a difference to people’s lives, making precious moments matter.  Find out more about the care we provide on our website here.

Set up an online fundraising page

You’ll be surprised how quickly you can make your fundraising target with simply the generosity of friends and family on JustGiving!

Setting up an online fundraising page with JustGiving takes just a few minutes, but makes sharing what you’re doing with those near and far very easy.  It’s quick and simple for loved ones to donate to your challenge and you can also share updates on your page too.

We also have printable Sponsor Forms too of course, if you prefer another method to collect sponsorship.

How about holding an event?

Bake sales, quizzes and bingo nights are also fun ways to raise money – if you need collecting tins or help advertising your event, then let us know!

We have a team of dedicated fundraisers here to help you with any ideas you may have, please get in touch if you have any questions or concerns – you’ll have smashed your Saint’s Way Trek target and more in no time!

Frequently asked questions

If you or your family feel like tackling just half of this challenging Saint’s Way Trek route is enough for you, then get in touch with our team and we can arrange for you to join us on just one of the days (and don’t worry you’d still be invited camping!)

If you have chosen the fundraising option then we do ask for a minimum fundraising requirement of £195. Your ticket price only covers the cost of the event, so it is this sponsorship which helps to raise much needed funds for our two Cornish hospices.

For both children’s tickets and the own-target option for adults, there is no minimum required sponsorship, but any amount of fundraising you can do would go a long way in helping to support our Cornish charity.

Fundraising can seem like a daunting task, but once you tell your friends and family what you are doing, you’ll be surprised how keen they are to donate to the cause and show their support. Simply sharing your JustGiving page to social media can be a super effective way of fundraising.

We have a dedicated team of fundraisers on hand to support you and give advice on any fundraising events you might want to do. Quiz nights, bake sales, duck races and raffles are just some of the simple yet effective ways people have raised their Saint’s Way Trek sponsorship in previous years. Get in touch to see how we can help.

There is no age limit to take part in our Saint’s Way Trek challenge – if you think your children are up for it, then we would love for you to join us as a family! However, all under 16’s must be accompanied by an adult.  We’ve had a number of children join us before who’ve had a great time.

The Saint’s Way Trek is not a race, so no, we will not be timing you. However, everyone who completes the challenge will get a lovely shiny finisher’s medal!

No, camping is optional (although it is included in your Saint’s Way Trek ticket price!). However, if you wish to go home and spend the night in your own bed then it will be up to you to organise pick-up and drop off to and from the site.

It is also important to note that Mena Farm Campsite’s wild meadows are for tents only, if you wish to take a motorhome or book one of their glamping pods, then this will need to be organised with them separately.

If you want to camp but don’t have a tent then get in touch with us! A local Scout group has kindly offered to lend us tents for the weekend for those who don’t have one of their own.

Send an email with how many are in your party to jhugo@cornwallhospice.co.uk to request a tent.

Yes! We don’t expect everyone to be walking in one big group, there will be water stations en route to sign in and out of, so feel free to set your own pace.

However, if you don’t trust yourself to follow route instructions and would rather walk in a supervised group, we will have an option to walk with a volunteer Saint’s Way Trek guide who will make sure you’re at camp in time for tea!
