Julie joined our Fundraising Team in October 2019 and is based at the Hayle Fundraising Office. She covers West Cornwall from Lands End and Penzance to St Ives, Hayle, Camborne and Redruth.
Julie says; “My charity work began in earnest when the Tsunami hit Indonesia in 2004 when I felt the need to help. I started selling second hand books from my Fish & Chip Shop and became the local library ( all funds went to Shelter Box). Soon after I signed up for a 250km Artic Trek (with a team of huskies!) and raised over £10,000 for Make – A -Wish. This was done by holding small events incorporating lots of fun (Safari Supers, tallest sunflowers).
More recently I have completed 2 Banger Rally Challenges – Gib or Bust and Las Vegas or Bust (St Austell Round Table ) and raised over £12,000 for The Cove (Macmillan ) – I did lots of raffles and community events including a coffee & cake afternoon whilst recovering myself from Breast Cancer and Lung Cancer – this was my therapy !
I am passionate about working for Cornwall Hospice Care as so many friends and family have been touched by the fantastic care they have given to loved ones and supported families at such difficult times and I want to be part of ensuring this care continues.”
