Long time fundraiser launches The Cornish Pilgrimage in support of Cornwall Hospice Care

Robin Moore from Caharrack near Redruth is launching a new pilgrimage to mark 25 years of fundraising for Cornwall Hospice Care. A keen walker, it’s been his dream to create a nationally recognised route across Cornwall.

The Cornish Pilgrimage runs from Morwenstow in the far North of Cornwall down to St Michael’s Mount in the West. Broken in to 9 routes, walkers can follow the pilgrimage over a number of consecutive days or do each phase separately to suit them.

“It’s a 200 mile walk,” explains Robin. “The route zig zags across Cornwall from coast to coast and takes between 7 to 10 days to complete.”

Robin first fundraised for the hospices after receiving a letter asking if he’d like to do a walk between St Julia’s Hospice in Hayle and Mount Edgcumbe Hospice in St Austell. He was invited to visit St Julia’s and met the team and was impressed by the work they were doing.

“I was already doing a walk so I incorporated the two hospices in to it and here I am 25 years later still raising funds for the charity. It’s a real privilege to help a local cause that does just important work caring for terminally ill patients, their families, friends and carers.”
